Doctor Suzanne Humphries believes that doctors do not know all they need to about vaccines. Doctors have been misinformed or not told at all about how safe vaccines are or what vaccines are made of. Humphries also believes that there are many misconceptions people have made about vaccinations. She believes that a person cannot put other people at risk for getting a disease if they are not vaccinated. Instead of unvaccinated people being threatening, Humphries believes that people who are vaccinated put themselves in danger. This is because the vaccination can lower the effectiveness of the immune and cause other illnesses. A person who is vaccinated will also not be immune to a certain disease forever, unlike an individual who is not vaccinated, contracts the disease, and is able to build up antibodies that will last for a lifetime.
Another misconception is that people who are not vaccinated will spread diseases to the people who are vaccinated. Humphries believes that it the exact opposite, and believes that vaccinated people can be carrying the weakened disease for many weeks even though they are asymptomatic. From there, they can spread it to other people around them.
Another misconception Humphries talks about is that people who stop getting vaccinated will cause outbreaks in diseases that could have been easily prevented by vaccines. She believes that the decline in illness has not been because of vaccines, but because of our own hygiene. Many diseases started to declined before any vaccine for them was introduced, and the diseases only declined faster than they were before because of the introduction of the vaccine.
